I originally was going to take photographs of Civil War monuments located on the many town squares throughout New Hampshire and Maine. Being a Civil War buff of sorts, I knew where most of them were located. However, after visiting the Gettysburg/Antietam monument in Portsmouth on Islington Street, I realized I would be chasing light direction which is also not in abundance due to the ludicrous daylight savings time now in affect.
Therefore, I decided to photograph the doors in Portsmouth. However, not the typical door photos you often see neatly arranged on a poster like tiny soldiers standing oh so erect, all the same frontal view and size.
As I traveled around Portsmouth with my Nikon D7200, my projected transitioned to photographing the doors and entrance-ways we casually walk by without noticing how unique some of them really are once you spend time to focus on them...literally "focus" on them I mean.
After awhile, they draw you in, wondering what is behind that door. I only wish I had the time to take more photographs. Perhaps, I will continue on with this project after the class is over.
